5 Wedding Trends for 2027 You’ll Still Love on Your 25th Anniversary

I love wedding trends.

I love seeing what couples are doing differently every year, watching new ideas take off, and seeing how each couple puts their own spin on them.

But my favorite trends are the ones that do two things at once: they feel current right now, and they have enough staying power that I think you’ll still love them decades from now.

Because someday, your grandkids are probably going to pull out your wedding photos.

And listen—they’re absolutely allowed to make fun of your outfit.

They can laugh at your hair. They can ask why everyone dressed like that. Every generation gets its turn.

I just don’t want them making fun of your photos.

That’s a huge part of the heart behind my business and the phrase I come back to over and over again:

Capture it well.

To me, that means more than taking a technically good photograph.

It means doing everything I can to document your wedding correctly and intentionally. Having backup plans. Protecting your images. Paying attention to the things happening around me. Photographing people the way they actually looked and moments the way they actually happened.

It also means creating photographs that feel true to life instead of editing your wedding into whatever aesthetic happens to be popular that year.

In 25 years, I want you to look at your wedding photographs and see your wedding.

And I think the same philosophy can apply to the choices you make while planning it.

There are some incredible wedding trends heading into 2027, and these are five I think hit that sweet spot perfectly: they feel stylish and current now, but they’re also choices I think you’re going to be really happy you made when you’re celebrating your 25th anniversary.

1. Black Bridesmaid Dresses + Black Tuxes

A black-and-white wedding party is having a major moment, and I completely understand why.

Think black bridesmaid dresses, black tuxes or suits, and the bride in white.

It’s simple. It’s clean. It’s classic.

And it photographs so well.

A mostly monochromatic wedding party keeps the photographs visually clean and lets your attention go straight to the people. You still get that polished, modern 2027 look, but you’re building it around colors that have been associated with formalwear for generations.

That’s exactly the kind of trend I love.

It feels incredibly current without needing anything overly complicated to make an impact.

And when you pull out those photographs on your 25th anniversary, I think black dresses and tuxes are still going to look just as elegant as they do today.

2. Calla Lilies and Lily of the Valley

Wedding flowers are having such a good moment right now.

I’m especially loving the return of really simple, intentional florals—particularly calla lilies and lily of the valley.

Calla lilies have that clean, sculptural look that can make even a really simple bouquet feel elevated.

Lily of the valley gives you something completely different. It’s tiny, delicate and understated.

They’re both beautiful examples of a trend that feels fresh right now while being rooted in something incredibly classic.

You don’t need an enormous bouquet filled with a dozen colors and varieties to make an impact.

Sometimes simplicity photographs even better.

I can picture either of these bouquets in a 2027 wedding gallery, and I can also picture someone looking at that same album 25 years later and still thinking, Those flowers were beautiful.

That’s exactly what I want from a wedding trend.

3. Adding Film Photography to Your Wedding

This one probably won’t surprise anyone coming from me.

I love film.

And with how polished digital images can be right now—and how quickly AI editing and image generation are changing what we’re used to seeing—I think there’s something really special about intentionally adding an imperfect medium back into your wedding gallery.

Film has grain.

There’s softness.

Colors behave differently. Light can do unexpected things. Movement doesn’t always become a perfectly sharp, frozen frame.

And that’s part of what makes it feel like a memory.

Film wedding photography is incredibly popular right now, but there’s something different about this trend: it connects your wedding photographs to generations of wedding photographs that came before yours.

Your parents may have wedding photographs on film.

Your grandparents probably do.

And now you can have that same medium mixed into your own wedding gallery alongside your digital photographs.

I personally love the combination.

You get the reliability and flexibility of modern digital photography while also getting a handful of photographs with that unmistakable nostalgic quality.

And on your 25th anniversary, I think those little imperfect film frames are going to feel even more special than they do today.

4. Vintage-Style White Wedding Cakes

Give me the white cake with all the piping.

The vintage-inspired wedding cakes we’re seeing right now are one of my favorite 2027 wedding trends because they’re fun, a little playful and still rooted in such a classic wedding detail.

White frosting. Lots of piped details. Maybe cherries or another small decorative element. Maybe Just Married written across the front or the couple’s new last name.

They’re instantly recognizable as something couples are loving right now, but they’re also beautiful because the foundation is so simple.

It’s still a white wedding cake.

The vintage piping gives it personality without making the entire design dependent on something over-the-top.

And that’s why I think these are going to photograph so well for years.

You’ll remember that you chose something that felt stylish when you got married, but you’ll also have photographs of a cake that still feels unmistakably like a wedding cake.

Current and classic can exist at the same time.

5. Day-Before or Day-After Wedding Portraits

This might be my favorite trend on the entire list.

More couples are starting to question the idea that every single wedding portrait has to happen during the actual wedding day.

Instead, imagine getting married, spending your wedding day actually enjoying the people you invited to celebrate with you, and then putting your wedding clothes back on the next evening and going somewhere incredible for portraits.

Or doing those portraits the day before.

You aren’t racing cocktail hour.

Your guests aren’t waiting for you.

You aren’t watching the clock.

You can choose a location entirely because you love it instead of being limited to whatever happens to be near your venue.

You can chase beautiful light.

You can take your time.

And your actual wedding day gets to feel less like one long photo session.

I think this trend has so much staying power because it isn’t just about creating something that looks cool.

It actually changes the way you experience your wedding.

You’re giving yourself more time with your guests and more freedom to create incredible portraits.

And when you’re looking at those photographs 25 years later, you’re not going to care that you got dressed up twice.

You’re going to be really glad you have them.

Trendy Now. Beautiful Later.

I don’t think choosing a timeless wedding means avoiding trends.

Not at all.

Your wedding should feel like the year you got married.

You’re allowed to love what’s popular right now. You’re allowed to see something all over your Pinterest board or TikTok and think, Yep. I want that.

The goal isn’t to create a wedding with absolutely no indication that it happened in 2027.

The goal is to choose the trends that actually feel like you.

And when a trend combines something current with something classic, meaningful or genuinely useful?

Those are the ones I think are worth paying attention to.

Black wedding-party attire.

Simple calla lilies and lily of the valley.

Film mixed into your digital gallery.

Vintage piped cakes.

A completely separate day to create the wedding portraits you’ve dreamed about.

They’re all very right now.

And I think you’re still going to be really happy you chose them when you pull out your wedding album on your 25th anniversary.

That’s the heart behind Capture it well.

Your wedding gets to be current.

Your photographs get to feel like you.

And decades from now, I want you to look back and love both.
